A visit to Douneside House means that you will be able to indulge in a truly memorable culinary experience at our luxury restaurant, courtesy of our passionate new Head Chef, David Butters. We are delighted for Chef Butters to join us from Gleneagles, where he worked with Darin Campbell. He further honed his craft at various other high-end properties, including the five-star Longueville Manor.
Chef Butters has created a range of innovative menus to suit all occasions and preferences, from a highly sophisticate ‘Taste of Douneside’ tasting menu, to a ‘Douneside House’ set three course menu with two options each evening. Both can be enjoyed in our elegant Restaurant, which showcases antique furnishings within a contemporary setting.
Lighter lunch or afternoon teas can be served in the restaurant, library or conservatory with its beautiful views of the terrace garden. Each day, between 4pm and 4.30pm as part of our full board dining option, we offer a set selection of afternoon tea and cakes in our conservatory, with tea or juice. Younger guests meanwhile have the option of dining together in the early evening over High Tea.
Non-residents may join us for lunch, afternoon tea or dinner, however an advanced reservation is required.
Please note, from mid-July to the end of August, Douneside House and restaurant are exclusively reserved for Officers of the armed services.
All menus focus on featuring the freshest local produce, with fruit and vegetables picked daily from the Douneside Garden. Meat is purchased from prestigious Royal Warrant butcher HM Sheridan, while blue flag fish comes fresh from the neighbouring fishing town of Peterhead every morning.
We pride ourselves on offering our guests a highly personalised stay, and Chef Butters would be delighted to accommodate any culinary preferences or dietary requests you may have.
Our Restaurant Manager, Tom Bielawski is on hand to recommend the perfect wine pairings from Douneside’s expansive wine cellar, which is stocked with a carefully put together selection of international vintages and local whiskies.
Please note that Douneside House’s restaurants are by reservation only.
